Chinese Armed Forces amassing at Hong Kong's border









On August 12, 2019, China's state media outlets have released footage showing numerous amounts of armored vehicles moving to Shenzhen, a city bordering Hong Kong.

Currently, the city of Hong Kong has numerous amounts of protestors in response to an extradition bill that was proposed, which will pave the way for the transfer of fugitives to mainland China. This proposal, being met with protests for the transfer to Mainland China would mean facing courts deemed to be under the political control of the Communist Party. As time went on, these protests evolved into pro-democracy movements, concerned with the growing influence of China within the region. Where demands such as the resignation of the chief executive have been voiced. Protests eventually evolving into violent clashes now classified as rioting by the authorities. As a response, the People's Armed Police has begun to assemble at the city of Shenzhen, which is only 25 kilometers away from Hong Kong's border. As such, the situation is currently being monitored by several countries for tourists hailing from Taiwan, South Korea, The Philippines, and other countries may be caught in the ensuing unrest.
